As part of a busy day on the mats, Wartburg College rolled up four non-conference dual victories at Olivet College of Michigan’s Comet Duals Nov. 20.

Coach Jim Miller’s squad rolled past Manchester College of Indiana 46-3, Trine University of Indiana 38-7, Heidelberg College of Ohio 30-12 and the host Comets 27-12. The Knights registered four falls against Manchester, four falls against Trine, a fall and technical fall against Heidelberg and two falls and a technical fall against Olivet.

Several Knights went through the tourney without a loss. Senior 125-pounder Mark Kist of Eagle Grove, senior 149-pounder Jacob Groth of Marshalltown, freshman 165-pounder Landon Williams of Davenport, junior 184-pounder Dylan Azinger of DeWitt, junior 197-pounder Byron Tate of Clinton and senior heavyweight John Helgerson of West Union were on the unbeaten roll call.

Miller’s Orange and Black also had wrestlers at Augsburg College of Minneapolis, Minn.’s Auggie Brute-Adidas and Concordia College of Mequon, Wis.’ Falcon Opens. At Augsburg, freshman 149-pounder Cole Welter of Gilbertville was a runner-up in the Silver Division and sophomore Dan Ige of Haleiwa, Hawaii and freshman Brett Yonkovic of Hopkinton each placed in the top two of their classes at 157 with Ige claiming the Bronze division II. At Concordia, sophomore 125-pounder Conner Drew of Gurnee, Ill., took sixth, sophomore Cameron Wagner of Belle Plaine battled through the wrestlebacks at 149 and took fifth, and sophomore Colton Wagner of Belle Plaine reached the finals at 157 before dropping a 5-4 thriller to Eric Hanson of Loras while sophomore Matt Vercillo of Davenport worked his way through the wrestlebacks to take seventh.

Wartburg breaks from competition this coming weekend. Their next event is the 2010-11 home and Iowa Conference dual opener against Central Tuesday, Nov. 30.
