Knights unbeaten at UW-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, WIS. – Wartburg College increased its 2010-11 record to 3-0 with a pair of wins at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Classic Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 20 and 21.

Coach Bob Amsberry’s squad knocked off the host Pioneers 67-55 Saturday and Concordia University of Mequon, Wis., 55-44 Sunday. The junior duo of guard Stephanie Reiter of LaPorte City and forward Leslie Wilson of Austin, Minn., triggered the victories. Reiter scored a team-best 22 points, picked up five steals and hit six three-pointers. Wilson, including a 10-rebound effort in the win over Concordia, averaged nine points and seven and a half rebounds over the weekend and also garnered five steals. She was also the field goal leader, canning 57.1 percent (eight-of-14) of her attempts. Other top numbers came from sophomore guard Abi Weidemann of Iowa Falls who had eight assists and was 10-for-13 at the charity stripe.

Wartburg continues its season with a non-conference home game against Grinnell College Saturday, Nov. 27. Tip-off, inside Levick Arena, is 2 p.m.
