DUBUQUE – Behind six bonus-point victories, No.-2 ranked Wartburg College garnered a 44-0 Iowa Conference dual win over Loras Dec. 2.
Coach Jim Miller’s team got out of the gate fast. Senior 125-pounder Mark Kist of Eagle Grove rolled up a major decision, junior 133-pounder Mike Kremer of Independence turned in a technical fall and senior 149-pounder Jacob Groth of Marshalltown won by major decision to go along with a forfeit win for sophomore Tommy Mirocha of Davenport at 141 for a 19-0 lead through four weights.
Freshman 165-pounder Landon Williams of Davenport (major decision), junior 184-pounder Dylan Azinger of DeWitt (major decision) and senior heavyweight John Helgerson of West Union (technical fall) rounded out the bonus-point victories. Junior 197-pounder Byron Tate of Clinton added a forfeit win.
Wartburg continues the 2010-11 schedule at the Simpson Storm Invitational in Indianola Saturday, Dec. 4. Meet time is 9 a.m. inside Cowles Fieldhouse on Simpson’s campus.
NOTES – The dual win was the 144th in a row against league competition for the Orange and Black.
