Day two comeback highlights weekend

Final results

SAUK CENTRE/SARTELL, MINN. – Wartburg College trimmed 16 strokes off a first round 331 to conclude the St. John’s University of Collegeville, Minn., Collegiate Invitational on a high note Sept. 19.

Head coach Alan Johnson’s squad carded one of the 15 best team rounds at Blackberry Ridge Country Club. Their 315 put the two-day team total at 646, good for a 16th place finish.

Senior Michael Dominick of Bayside, Calif., and freshman John Sexton of Tripoli recorded the low individual scores. Dominick, placing in a tie for 36th, shot dual rounds of 78 (156), while Sexton played 82-78 for a 160.

Notes – Wartburg’s Orange group opened the Clarke Ocktoberfest Invitational Sunday. The tourney concludes Monday, Sept. 20. … The two teams split again this weekend with the Orange squad playing in the University of Dubuque Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, and the Black team going north for UW-Eau Claire’s Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational Sunday and Monday, Sept. 26 and 27.
