WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg women’s basketball team (5-1 overall, 1-0 IIAC) will take on Simpson (5-1, 1-0) on Saturday when the Storm travel to Waverly for a 2 p.m. game.

A Look at the Teams:
Wartburg:
The Knights are coming off a rivalry win Wednesday against Luther 77-72. Senior Leslie Wilson (Austin, Minn.) led the way for the Knights with her 18 points. Right behind her, junior Abi Weidman (Iowa Falls) and senior Stephanie Reiter (La Porte City) both finished with 16 points on the night.
So far this season, Reiter leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points per contest. Abi Weidman is a close second, averaging 11.5 points per game. She’s also first on the team is assists averaging 2.7/game. Leslie Wilson is third in scoring averaging 10.2 pts/game. She is also first on the team in steals (3.2/game) and minutes (30.5/game).
Simpson:
The co-defending conference champions come into the contest off the heels of a 63-60 OT win over Cornell. Kate Nielsen led the way for the storm, coming off the bench and scoring 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
So far this season, it has been the senior leadership leading the way for Simpson. Senior Stacy Schutjer leads the team in scoring averaging 13.3 points/contest. She also leads the team in field goal percentage (56%) and rebounds (6.7/gm)
Classmate Amy Hamilton is also a major of the Storm attack. Hamilton is second on the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 points/contest. She also leads the team in three-point percentage, shooting at a 40.6% clip while she is second on the team in total field goal percentage at 41%.
