PELLA, Iowa—The top-ranked Wartburg wrestling team (4-1 overall, 1-0 IIAC) defeated Iowa Conference opponent, Central (1-1, 0-1) 39-9 Thursday.
With the win, the Knights increase their IIAC dual win streak to 152 straight matches.
At the 125-lb weight class, sophomore Kenny Anderson (Bilerca, Ma.) pinned Daniel Page at 1:46. At 133, junior Tommy Mirocha (Davenport) recorded a major decision (12-3) over Bryan Connolly.
At 141, senior Mike Kremer (Independence) won the 11-7 decision over TJ Peretti and at 149, junior Andrew Johnson (Kanehoe, Hi.) fell 5-3 to Ryan Davis.
Classmate Cameron Wagner (Belle Plaine) pinned his opponent, Zach Beekman at 4:02 in the 157 class and sophomore Landon Williams (Davenport) pinned Colten Moore just 57 seconds into the 165 match.
Senior Ben Scott (Adel) registered a 6-1 decision over Tommy Van Renterghem at the 174 class and classmate Dylan Azinger (DeWitt) won by technical fall (23-9) against Greg Barner at 184.
After the Orange and Black forfeited the 197 match, sophomore Ryan Fank (Independence) ended the evening with his pin against Jake Crawford at 1:13 in the heavyweight match.
Wartburg returns to action Saturday when it competes at the Simpson Open.
