Wartburg College picked up a pair of non-conference dual wins Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13.
In men’s competition, Coach Matt Tyler’s squad earned its third win of the spring with an 8-1 decision over Morningside College of Sioux City March 12. The Orange and Black swept through doubles play against the Mustangs, while singles wins went to sophomore Brian Rasmussen of Fort Dodge, freshman Dayton Stevens of Cedar Rapids, senior Aaron Masterson of Lindsborg, Kansas, senior Anthony Greco of Boone, and sophomore Blayne Willadsen of New Hampton. The Knights opened the day with a 7-2 defeat at the hands of UW-Eau Claire, as junior Chris Buckingham of Waverly and the doubles squad of Greco and Willadsen accounted for the team’s points.
Wartburg’s women improved to 14-6 with a 6-3 victory over Augustana College of Rock Island, Ill., March 13. Tyler’s team received singles wins from juniors Jennifer Dallenbach of Decorah, Lindsay Greiner of Boone, and Leanna Jenkins of Muscatine as well as sophomore Claire Evans of Alden. Dallenbach and Greiner and Jenkins and Evans’ doubles victories helped the Knights as well.
Wartburg’s men return to action with an Iowa Conference double dual Saturday, March 26, at Central College of Pella against the Dutch and Simpson College of Indianola.
