IPTV to Broadcast Battle of the 'Burgs LIVE

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Iowa Public Television (IPTV) will broadcast and web-stream wrestling's annual Battle of the 'Burgs Thursday at 7:30 p.m. This will also be the annual Orange Out and Wartburg fans are encouraged to wear orange Wartburg gear that evening.

The second-ranked Auggies of Augsburg College will take on the first-ranked Wartburg College Knights in Waverly, a match-up that pits the top two teams in the NWCA/Brute-Adidas Top 30 Poll against each other.

This year, IPTV is showcasing several top collegiate match-ups with coverage and expert commentary from two wrestling legends. Tim Johnson returns as IPTV’s play-by-play announcer and national champion wrestler and coach Dan Gable returns as an analyst for the season.

College Wrestling can be seen statewide on Iowa Public Television. For the rest of this season, viewers can see expert coverage of the following meets:
·         Augsburg @ Wartburg             Thursday, February 2 at 7:30 p.m. (live)
·         IIAC Championships                Friday, February 24, broadcast at 8:30 p.m. (finals begin at 7)

The Series:
Augsburg holds the all-time series lead, 15-11, but Wartburg has won the last two meetings, including the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals Championship on Jan. 8 earlier this season.  The Orange and Black won 29-6 to claim their sixth National Duals title in program history.

A Look at the Teams:
Wartburg:

The Knights earned the top spot in the BRUTE/adidas NWCA Top 30 poll, released Jan. 24. The Orange and Black have nine wrestlers ranked in the Top Ten in their respective weight classes.

Augsburg:
The Auggies have won their last four consecutive matches, since falling to the Knights on Jan. 8. Augsburg has six wrestlers ranked in the Top Ten in their respective weight classes.
