Knights Pick up Tenth Win of Season

WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg women’s basketball team picked up its tenth win of the year with its 77-57 win over Iowa Conference opponent, Central, Wednesday night.

The Knights move to 10-3 on the season and 3-1 in IIAC games while the Dutch fell to 4-8 and 0-4.

Four players finished in double-digits for the Orange and Black. Senior Leslie Wilson (Austin, Minn.) and junior Maddie Sadecky (Iowa City) each finished with 15 points while senior Stephanie Reiter (Buckingham) had 12 and freshman Holly Halstead (Hudson) tallied 10. Reiter also dished out a career-best eight assists.

Senior Emily Timmermans (Vinton) led the team on the glass with her five rebounds.

Sadecky made five three-point field goals, and was 5-5 from beyond the arc in the first half.

Wartburg took the 43-21 lead at halftime and maintained its double-digit lead through the second frame. The Knights increased their margin to as many as 30 points twice in the second half.

The Orange and Black’s defense held the Dutch to under 30% from the field in the second stanza.

Central also had four players finish in double digits as Sarah Paulson, Alyssa Schwartz, AJ Baker and Kelsey Schuring all tallied 11 points.

Wartburg continues its conference slate on the road against Coe on Saturday at 2 p.m.
