WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's basketball team won its fifth-straight game Friday in the 61-56 victory over Northwestern College (Minn.) to advance to its annual home holiday tournament.
Senior Cathy Reiter (Buckingham) and freshman Kailey Kladivo (Traer) co-led the team with 14 points. Reiter had a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Senior Baileigh O'Brien (Fort Dodge) had a team-best 14 rebounds.
The Knights held the one-point advantage (30-29) at halftime and the Eagles pulled ahead by one (38-37) with 14:51 remaining. Wartburg compiled a 7-2 run over the next three minutes to regain the lead which it never relinquished.
The Orange and Black outrebounded the Eagles 43-27 which included 20 offensive rebounds.
Wartburg will face Illinois Wesleyan Saturday in the tournament championship game at 3 p.m.
