WAVERLY, Iowa—Fittingly on the annual Senior Day, senior Leslie Wilson (Austin, Minn.) tied her career-high with 25 points as Wartburg (17-6 overall, 10-4 IIAC) defeated Iowa Conference opponent, Loras (14-10, 9-6) 55-52 in overtime Saturday.
Wilson led all scorers and narrowly missed a double-double with her nine rebounds.
The Duhawks took the 26-21 lead at halftime, but the Knights opened the second frame on a 7-1 run over the first eight minutes to take the one-point lead (28-27) with 12:05 remaining.
The score was knotted five times over the next nine minutes and Loras cut the margin to one (42-41) with 3:06 to go.
The Orange and Black answered with a 4-0 run over the next minute and a half until the Duhawks made a trey to cut the lead to two and tied it at the end of regulation as Melissa Hermann’s layup went through the net just barely before the backboard was illuminated to force an extra session.
Wartburg outscored Loras 9-6 in the overtime session to take the win.
The Knights return to action Wednesday in their final regular season home game against Coe at 6 p.m.
