WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg College men's tennis team (7-5 overall, 1-4 IIAC) fell 6-3 to Iowa Conference opponent, Dubuque (10-4, 2-1) Saturday.
In singles competition, Eric Hilpert won at No. 3, 4-6, 6-2 and 6-3. Josh Trueblood also won at No. 6, 6-3 and 6-0.
Chris Buckingham fell 6-2, 6-2 at the top spot while Brian Rasmussen was defeated 7-5 and 6-2 at No. 2. Blayne Willadsen fell 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 at No. 4 and Dayton Stevens lost 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5.
In doubles competition, Hilpert and Willadsen combined for the 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot.
Buckingham/Trueblood lost 8-2 at the top spot and Rasmussen/Stevens were defeated 8-3.
The Orange and Black return to competition next Saturday against Central at 9 a.m. and Bethany Lutheran at 3 p.m.
