CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's basketball team (14-9 overall, 7-5 IIAC) completed the season sweep over Coe (12-11, 5-7) Saturday with its 77-70 win. With the victory, Wartburg has qualified for the Iowa Conference tournament which starts in two weeks.
The Knights won the first meeting 58-55 on Jan. 16.
Three players finished in double-digits as freshman Kailey Kladivo (Traer) led the team with 18 points off the bench. She scored 12 of her points in the first half alone.
Junior Carly Jacobs (Greene) tallied 16 and senior Baileigh O'Brien (Fort Dodge) recorded 14 on the day.
The margin did not reach double digits until the second half when the Knights were up by 12 (50-38) as Jacobs hit a trey with 15:34 remaining.
The Kohawks whittled the difference to five with 0:29 to go (73-68).
The Orange and Black made all four free throw attempts down the stretch to hold off a late-game rally.
Wartburg held the team advantages in field goal percentage (.518 vs. .422), three-point field goal percentage (.333 vs. .200), rebounds (39-32), assists (16-15), blocks (10-4) and steals (10-9).
The Knights return to action Wednesday when they host Buena Vista at 6 p.m. in the final regular-season home game.
