DECORAH, Iowa-- Sophomore Bobbi Burrows (Bondurant) and junior Alyssa Sager (Albert Lea, Minn.) score more than 20 points against Luther, but it was unfortunately not quite enough as Wartburg fell 87-80.
Burrows had 20 points and Sager had 21. Both player finished just one point shy of their respective career highs.
The Norse led 51-49 at halftime. The Knights cut the margin to three four times in the second half, including at 80-77 with 1:16 left on a jumper by junior Mary Brown (Spirit Lake). The Orange and Black fouled down the stretch to get the ball back for a couple more plays, but Luther made its free throw attempts to extend its lead.
Wartburg held the team advantages in field goal percentage (.435 vs .397), blocks (3-1) and steals (5-4).
The Knights return to the court Wednesday when they host Central at 6 p.m.
