Box ScoreELMHURST, Ill.-- Wartburg moved to 4-0 on the season with its 73-70 win over Elmhurst Saturday. The Knights handed the Blue Jays their first loss of the season.
Junior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) led all scorers with 24 points while freshman Miranda Murphy joined her in double digits with 11.
The Knights led 39-35 at halftime and even though Elmhurst outscored them in the second half, they were able to hold on for the win. The Orange and Black trailed by one point with 2:26 to play, but they compiled a 6-0 run over the next 2:20 to pull ahead 73-68.
The Bluejays hit a trey with six seconds remaining and after a missed Wartburg free throw, got the ball back and attempted a last-second three-point shot that was unsuccessful.
The Knights return to the court Tuesday when they host Westminster at 6 p.m.
