Box ScoreWAVERLY, Iowa-- Four players finished in double digits in Wartburg's 85-82 overtime win over Nebraska Wesleyan (1-4) Saturday.
Junior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) had her first double-double of the season as she had a team-best 27 points and 11 rebounds. Her point total was two shy of her career mark.
Freshman Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) had 18 points while twin sisters Kristie and Katie Sommer rounded out the leading scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Kladivo and Neuendorf had 11 of their total points in the first half alone as the Knights took the 38-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the second frame, the Orange and Black led by as many as 14 points with 12:18 to go until the Prairie Wolves sliced the margin to five with just over nine minutes to play. The margin remained in single digits until Nebraska Wesleyan knotted the score at 64 all and at 68 all with 1:33 to play in the half. Kladivo made a layup to take the two-point lead with 0:59 on the clock but the Prairie Wolves answered on their ensuing possession. Both teams had turnovers on its next possesions to send the game into overtime.
The score was tied at 72-72 under a minute into the extra session, but then Wartburg compiled a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to take the 78-72 lead.
Nebraska Wesleyan sliced the lead once again to two points with seven seconds to go. Kristie Sommer was fouled and made one of her two free throw attempts to build the margin to three.
The Prairie Wolves tried one last ditch effort for a three, but were unsuccessful to seal the win for the Knights.
The Orange and Black return to competition next Saturday at Minnesota-Morris.
