WAVERLY, Iowa--  Buena Vista hit the game-winning three-point basket at the buzzer in overtime to win 73-70 Saturday.

Wartburg had the 29-25 halftime lead but were outscored 39-35 in the second half.

The game was tied for the seventh time at 59-59 with 2:52 left in the second frame. BV took the two-point lead on a layup but sophomore Bobbi Burrows (Bondurant) regained the lead for the Knights with her trey with 2:30 to go.

The Beavers made a layup with 1:19 and completed the three-point play to take a two point lead, 64-62. Burrows made both of her shots from the charity stripe to knot the game at 64-64 with 0:50. BV was unable to score on its last play attempt to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, the Knights built their lead to three (68-65) with 3:30 to go. BV answered with a 5-0 run over the next two minutes to take a two-point lead. Junior Alyssa Sager (Albert Lea, Minn.) tied the game at 70 all with her jumper with 1:00 remaining.

After two missed shots, Buena Vista was able to kick out the offensive rebound to Sidney Beckman as she hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer.

Burrows and Sager co-led the team with 17 points each. Junior Allison Emrich (Vinton) joined them in double figures with 12 points.

Wartburg concludes its three-game homestand Wednesday when it hosts Dubuque at 6 p.m.
