Strong Second Half Propels Wartburg Past Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- Wartburg used a strong second half effort as it outscored Coe, 41-33, to claim Wednesday's meeting, 73-66.

A trio of Knights finished in double digits and were led by 17 points from sophomore Kailey Kladivo (Traer). She scored 14 of her total points in the second half alone. Classmate Bobbi Burrows (Bondurant) followed with 16 and junior Holly Halstead (Hudson) rounded out the leading scorers with 14 on the night.

Coe was ahead 33-32 at halftime, but the Orange and Black started the second half on a 9-4 run over the first three minutes to take the lead for good. Wartburg led by as many as 10 points three times in the frame.

The Knights' defense held the Kohawks to a .083 field goal percentage beyond the arc. The Orange and Black also had a season-low five turnovers.

Wartburg concludes its regular season Saturday when it travels to Central for a 2 p.m. game.
