Box ScoreCHICAGO-- The Wartburg women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season at the North Park Tournament, against Elmhurst (4-1), 71-65.
Four Knights recorded double figures and were led by 16 points from sophomore Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids). Twin sister Kristie followed with 12, classmate Miranda Murphy (Alleman) had 11 and senior Bobbie Burrows (Bondurant) had 10.
The Blue Jays led 38-33 at halftime and scored one more point than the Orange and Black in the third and fourth quarters to take the win.
Wartburg sliced the margin to one point twice in the fourth quarter, at 7:39 to play (55-54) and at 1:35 (62-61). Elmhurst went on an 8-4 run over the duration of the game as it maid its free throws down the stretch.
The Knights return to the court tomorrow as they face host-North Park at 2 p.m.
