Box ScoreEAU CLAIRE, Wis.-- Sophomore Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) was perfect from three-point range as she made all five of her attempts to lead all scorers with 22 points to help Wartburg beat UW-Eau Claire, 61-47. Senior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Sommer nearly had a double-double as she was the second-leading rebounder with eight boards.
The Blugolds led 26-21 at halftime, but the Knights opened the third quarter on a 14-6 over the first five minutes of the frame as they took the lead for good. The Orange and Black built their margin to double digits late in the fourth quarter as they made their free throws (8 of 10) down the stretch.
With the victory, Wartburg moved to 4-1 overall and UWEC fell to 2-4.
The Blugolds were cold beyond the arc, as they finished 2-23 (8.7%).
The Orange and Black returns to the court Tuesday when they host Bethany Lutheran at 5 p.m.
