WARTBURG vs. SIMPSON HIGHLIGHTSSenior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) led all scorers with 18 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. She now ranks tenth on Wartburg's all-time scoring list with 1,115 points. Kladivo needs 31 points to move into ninth place.
Sophomore Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) followed with 14 points and classmate Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) tallied 11.
Simpson led 33-28 at halftime, but the Orange and Black took their first lead of the game on a trey by Sommer to go ahead 38-37 with 3:58 left to play in the third quarter. The Storm answered as they built their lead to 12 with 8:45 to go in the fourth.
Wartburg knotted the score again at 56 all with 3:06 left and took the 58-56 lead with 2:15 to go as Neuendorf went coast to coast for the basket. Kladivo increased the margin to three on her free throw with :12 on the clock. Simpson brought the ball down the court and attempted a last-second three-pointer but was unsuccessful.
The Knights won the battle of the boards as they outrebounded the Storm, 46-36 and 19 of them were on the offensive glass.
