Box ScoreDUBUQUE, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's basketball team was edged 59-55 by Loras Saturday afternoon.
Senior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) led all scorers with her second consecutive and seventh overall double-double as she had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) joined her in double digits with 12 points.
The Duhawks held the narrow 29-28 lead at halftime and the score went back and forth as the third quarter featured the score being tied three ties. Wartburg led by six points (55-51) with 4:10 remaining but Loras answered with a layup and two free throws to knot the score with 56 seconds left. The Duhawks took a one-point lead as they made their and-one attempt and after a missed shot by the Knights they quickly fouled. Loras made one of the free throws and after a turnover by the Orange and Black, the visitors quickly fouled once more. The Duhawks made both of its final free throw attempts to take the 59-55 win.
Wartburg held the team advantages in field goal percentage (.426 vs. .397) and were perfect at the line (6-6)
The Knights return to the court at home when they host Coe at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
