WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 10/11 Wartburg women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season in the 87-29 win over Edgewood (0-2) Saturday. In addition, head coach Bob Amsberry earned his 300th career victory.
Freshman Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) led all scorers with her career-best 14 points and added five rebounds in the contest. Junior Aryn Jones (Marion) in her first game back from the volleyball season scored 11 and sophomore Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) tallied 10 to round out the leading scorers for the Knights.
The Orange and Black led 8-6 just over five minutes into the game and never relinquished their lead. Every player that suited for the game saw playing time for Wartburg and everyone scored at least two points.
As a team, the Knights held the advantage in all categories and kept the Eagles to .077 from beyond the arc.
The Orange and Black return to the court Tuesday when they take to the road to face Bethany Lutheran at 5 p.m.
