Twenty-Five Point Fourth Quarter Propels Knights Past Duhawks

WAVERLY, Iowa- Wartburg (16-6 overall, 6-5 IIAC) increased its winning streak to three in the 60-50 victory over Loras (14-8, 7-4) Wednesday. Sophomore Miranda Murphy (Alleman) led all scorers with 16 points. She tied her career best which she has done on three occasions now, most recently against Viterbo on Dec. 20.

The Knights took a two-point lead into the locker room at halftime and was tied 35 all at the end of the third quarter.

The score was tied for the last time at 37 all with 8:47 to play in the game. A trey by sophomore Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) gave the Orange and Black the three-point lead with 7:27 to go but the Duhawks answered with a layup 20 seconds later to make it a one-point game.

Wartburg then compiled a 5-0 run by Neuendorf over the next minute and a half to regain the lead which it never surrendered. The Knights built their lead to double digits as they made their fouls down the stretch.

Sophomore Aryn Jones (Marion) was the leading rebounder with 10 boards on the night.
