No. 9/10 Wartburg Travels to Face Buena Vista in a Battle for First Place

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 9/10 Wartburg women's basketball team (13-1 overall, 5-0 IIAC) travels to face Buena Vista (8-5, 4-0) Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a battle for first place in the conference standings as each team is undefeated in IIAC play.

The Series
Wartburg holds the narrow all-time series lead at 37-36. BV claimed both meetings last season by single digits.

Wartburg
Junior Miranda Murphy (Alleman) leads the team with 14.8 PPG and classmate Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) joins her in double digits at 12.9 PPG. Sommer has a team-best 6.3 rebounds/game and Murphy follows at 6.0.

Sommer currently ranks sixth-best on the program's all-time career leader list in assists with 275. She needs two to move into fifth. Sommer is also ninth on the career leader list for three-point field goals made (99).

Twin sister Kristie Sommer currently ranks sixth in that category with 132 and needs 35 to move into fifth.

Junior Aryn Jones (Marion) has moved into sixth in blocks (64).

Buena Vista
Jasmine Demers paces her team at 13.0 PPG and Sidney Beckman joins her in double digits with 11.0. Claudia Larson leads the team on the glass with 7.5 rebounds/game.
