WAVERLY, Iowa-- Junior Miranda Murphy (Alleman) had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and classmate Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) also had a double-double with 10 points and as many assists in Wartburg's 73-55 win over Loras Wednesday. This marked a career-high in assists for Sommer as her previous mark was nine and a new record for Murphy as her previous best was 12 rebounds.
The Knights are now 12-1 overall and remain undefeated at 4-0 in Iowa Conference games. The Duhawks fell to 6-7, 0-4.
Freshman Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) had a career-high 15 points, which included a career-best seven from the free throw line.
Junior Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) had 11 points and classmate Aryn Jones (Marion) finished with 10.
Loras led 16-11 after the first quarter and took the narrow 27-26 lead into halftime.
After the score was tied 34 all just under three minutes into the third quarter, the Orange and Black used a 6-0 run to take the lead for good and led by as many as 20 points late in the game.
Wartburg held the team advantages in field goal percentage (.431 vs. 371) and free throw percentage (.792 vs .500). The Knights held the narrow 39-38 advantage on the glass.
