BELOIT, Wis.-- Senior Megan Murphy (Alleman) set a new career-high with 16 points in No. 4/13 Wartburg's 85-22 win over Beloit Saturday. This bested her previous mark of 13 set against Fontbonne on Nov. 21, 2015.
With the win, the Knights moved their winning streak to seven and the Buccaneers fell to 2-7 on the season.
Murphy was one of four players in double digits. Classmates Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids), Miranda Murphy (Alleman) and sophomore Emma Gerdes joined her with 13, 11, and 10 points, respectively.
Eight of Sommer's points came from the free throw line, to set a new career-best. This also marked the 25th time she finished with a perfect free throw percentage in her career.
Freshman Kaitlyn Volesky (Mount Vernon) led the team with six rebounds and senior Aryn Jones (Marion) followed with five.
The Orange and Black opened the game on a 12-2 run and never looked back. Wartburg owned all three team shooting percentage categories, and out rebounded the Bucaneers 43-25.
The Knights are off from competition next week due to finals. They return to the court against UC- Santa Cruz on Dec. 19, at the UC-Santa Cruz Tournament.
