WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 15/21 Wartburg women's basketball team (1-0 overall) travels to compete in the Cornell Classic this weekend in Mount Vernon. The Knights will play No. 10/12 Illinois Wesleyan (0-1) at 8 p.m. Saturday and Carroll (0-1) Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Series
The Titans hold the slim lead at 1-0, as the only meeting between the programs was the championship game of Wartburg's Holiday Tournament in 2012. The Pioneers and the Knights have never previously met.

Wartburg
In the season opening win over UW-Platteville, junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) and sophomore Tori Hazard (Janesville) co-led the team with 14 points. Junior Amanda Brainerd (DeWitt) had six rebounds.

Illinois Wesleyan
In the season opening one-point loss (77-76) to Chicago, Sydney Shanks led her team with 21 points. Ashley Schneider and Raven Hughes joined her in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Maddie Merritt had six rebounds in that game.

Carroll
In the season opening loss to MSOE, Theresa Wichser had 21 points and Katie Rossetti had seven rebounds.
