WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 2/2 Wartburg women's basketball team (30-0 overall) advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sectional Semifinal with its 78-54 win over No. 7/11 Trine (26-4) Friday.

Senior Morgan Neuendorf (Plainfield) became the fourth member of the 1,000 career point club this season, which set a new school record.

Classmate Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) had a team-high 16 points and junior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) scored a career-best 13 points as she finished a perfect 5-5 from the field.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS


The Thunder took the 7-4 lead four minutes into the game, but the Orange and Black compiled a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take the six-point lead. Wartburg later led 45-24 at halftime, and continued to lead by double digits for the duration of the contest.

The Knights will face East Texas Baptist University Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Sectional Final. The Tigers upset No. 6/8 St. Thomas 61-58 in OT.
