WAVERLY, Iowa-- Four players for the No. 19/20 Wartburg women's basketball team (14-3 overall, 7-1 American Rivers) finished in double digits Saturday in the 104-64 win over Dubuque (3-14, 1-7) Saturday.
Senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) led the Knights with 19 points. Juniors Amanda Brainerd (DeWitt) and Katie Lindeman (Grundy Center) each had 12 and sophomore Tori Hazard (Janesville) rounded out the leading scorers with 10 points.
Boettger also led the team on the glass with seven rebounds.
This was the seventh 100-point game in program history as the Orange and Black move to 7-0 all-time in these games. This was the second-most points scored, as 113 was the record, interestingly set against Dubuque in the 2002-03 season.
Wartburg opened the contest on a 6-0 run over the first three minutes. The Spartans cut it to one at 11-10 with 4:16 to play in the first on a jumper. The Knights quickly answered with a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to push the lead to 11.
The Orange and Black took the 26-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintained their double digit lead for the duration of the contest.
A trey from sophomore Riley Murphy (Alleman) with 3:27 left in the game helped Wartburg reach the 100 point mark.
The Knights held the team advantages in all three shooting percentage categories, and in rebounds (46-28), which included 17-6 on the offensive glass, assists (31-11), steals (14-6) and blocks (1-0).
Their assist total set a new school record. The previous mark of 30 was also set against Dubuque on Jan. 7, 2003.
The Orange and Black return to the court Monday when they travel to face Coe at 6 p.m.
