Four Finish in Double Digits as No. 16/18 Wartburg Moves Winning Streak to Seven

INDIANOLA, Iowa-- Four players finished in double digits in No. 16/18 Wartburg's 88-73 win over Simpson Thursday. The Knights moved their winning streak to seven, and halted the Storm's at six.

The Orange and Black are now 18-3 and 11-1 in American Rivers Conference games.

Junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) led all scorers with 18 points. Sophomore Tori Hazard (Janesville) followed with 16, senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) had 11, and sophomore Ally Conrad (Cedar Falls) rounded out the leading scorers with 10.

Boettger had her first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.

Wartburg opened the game on a 13-3 run over the first four and a half minutes. The Knights led 21-15 at the end of the first, and took the three-point lead into halftime (37-34). The Orange and Black led by four at the end of the third (57-53).

The Storm knotted the game at 60 all with 8:23 remaining and took their first lead at 63-62 with 7:48 to go on a three-pointer. Simpson increased its margin to three on a pair of made free throws with 6:02 left.

Wartburg answered with a 18-0 run to regain the lead and push the margin to double digits to seal the win.

The Knights owned the team advantage from the free throw line (.862 vs. .667), rebounds (40-30), blocks (3-0), and steals (11-10).

The Orange and Black are off from competition this weekend and return to the court Wednesday as they travel to face Luther at 6 p.m.
