WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 11/15 Wartburg women's basketball team (26-3 overall) defeated No. 9/11 Hope (23-5) 79-49 Saturday to advance to the Sweet Sixteen of NCAA Tournament next week. This marks the third trip to this round in the last four seasons for the program.

The Knights will face No. 13/13 UW-Oshkosh next Friday, March 8. The sites will be announced Sunday.
Five Wartburg players scored in double figures. Junior Amanda Brainerd (DeWitt) and sophomore Kaitlyn Volesky (Mount Vernon) scored 15 points each. Senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) had 14 points. Sophomore Ally Conrad (Cedar Falls) had 11 points and junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) tallied 10.
Brainerd had 12 rebounds and Volesky led the team with five assists.
The Knights got out to a 25-12 lead after the first quarter with Boettger scoring Wartburg's first eight points. The Orange and Black extended their lead to 49-17 at halftime, outscoring the Flying Dutch 24-5 in the second quarter.
Wartburg held the all three team shooting percentage categories, rebounds (46-27), assists (23-14), and blocks (3-0). The Knights held Hope to a team field goal percentage of .284 and .235 from beyond the arc.
The Orange and Black will await the announcement from the NCAA.
