WAVERLY, Iowa - The top-ranked Wartburg wrestling team fell 19-17 to No. 3 Loras College in the American Rivers Conference Championship on Feb. 14 at Levick Arena.
Wartburg's conference title streak ends at 27 seasons along with the conference dual streak coming to a halt at 220-straight victories dating back to 1994.
After a pair of Wartburg wins at 125 and 133 from
Brady Kyner and
Kris Rumph gave the home team a 7-0 advantage, the Duhawks responded with three-straight wins including a pin at 157 from No. 4-ranked Brandon Murray to give Loras a 12-7 lead.
Despite wins for the Knights from
Max Forsyth at 165 and
Kyle Briggs at 184, a major decision by Loras' top-ranked Guy Patron Jr. at 197 sealed the win for the Duhawks.
