CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Wartburg cross country team for a second consecutive meet earned first place finishes on both the men's and women's sides, sweeping the Coe College Triangular Saturday, Sept. 26 at Seminole Valley Park.
The men took first with a second-straight perfect 15-point score, finishing ahead of Nebraska Wesleyan University and Coe. The women just missed a perfect score with 17 points, taking first ahead of NWU.
Joe Freiburger (Sr., Holy Cross, Iowa) and
Aubrie Fisher (So., Ackley, Iowa) won respective races for the second consecutive meet. Freiburger ran the 8k in 25:18, while Fisher ran the 6k in 22:06 - a personal best.
On the men's side, each top 10 finisher wore Orange & Black. Following Freiburger,
Dalton Martin (25:46),
Liam Conroy (26:00),
Matthew Schneider (26:02), and
Morgan Shirley-Fairbairn (26:07) finished in the top-five.
The Wartburg women earned the top four finishers along with seven of the top-10.
Carina Collet (22:25),
Moriah Morter (22:52), and
Alexis Brown (23:03) trailed Fisher to finish second through fourth, respectively.

Wartburg returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10, hosting the Dan Huston Triangular at Max Cross Country Course, competing against Central and Simpson. The women's race is scheduled for 12 p.m., followed by the men at 12:45 p.m.
