STORM LAKE, Iowa - Wartburg women's basketball came away with a 84-52 victory against Buena Vista University on Friday, Jan. 29 inside Siebens Fieldhouse to remain perfect on the year. The Knights improved to 10-0 in the past 10 contests against the Beavers.
The Orange & Black (7-0, 2-0 A-R-C) will continue American Rivers Conference competition on Wednesday, Feb. 3 when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on Coe College (1-2, 0-1 A-R-C) at 5:30 p.m.
Wartburg led the entire contest as it stormed out on a 15-0 run to begin the game. The Knights ended the first period with a 19-7 advantage after shooting 50% from the field, 42.8% from 3-point land and 100% from the free-throw line. Baskets continued to fall for the Knights in the second period as they shot 56.2% from the field and went into the break with a 15-point lead.
The Knights' defense kept the pressure on throughout, forcing a season-high 27 turnovers on 14 steals and one block. Wartburg allowed just 25 second-half points as the Beavers managed to score just eight points in the final frame. Wartburg shot 46% from the field, 25% from long range and 83.3% from the charity stripe en route to the victory.

Payton Draper led all scorers with 15 points to go along wth her team-high four assists and five rebounds.

Sara Faber all reached double figures in scoring. The Knights dominated down low once again outscoring the Beavers 44-16 in points in the paint. On the season, Wartburg has a scoring margin of plus 33.3 and are averaging 81 points per game.
