WAVERLY, Iowa - Wartburg women's basketball secured its second victory of the season when they defeated North Central University (6-1, 0-0 UMAC) 100-67 on Friday evening inside Levick Arena. Freshman forward
Jaedon Murphy led the Knights in scoring in her collegiate debut with 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from behind the arc.Â
The Orange and Black (2-0, 0-0 A-R-C) will continue non-conference competition on Friday, Jan. 15 in St. Paul, Minn. when they take on the University of Northwestern (4-2, 0-0 UMAC) at 6:30 p.m.Â
In addition to Murphy, two Knights scored in double figures with senior forward

Ally Conrad led Wartburg in the assist column with five and Murphy logged a team-high eight rebounds to go along with her 28 points. The Knights finished the contest with 30 second-chance baskets compared to North Central's zero and the Wartburg bench outscored the Rams 58-9. The Orange and Black ended the contest with a 45.8 shooting percentage from the field, 38.5% from three and 56.3% from the charity stripe.Â
North Central was able to keep the game close in the first quarter as the Knights held a three-point advantage. However, Wartburg forced seven turnovers in the second to breakout to an 11-point lead at halftime and shot 53% from the field in the second half to cap off the victory. The Knights finished the game with 100 points for the first time since Feb. 20, 2020 when they won 102-62 against Simpson College.Â
Defensively, Wartburg held the Rams to just 40% from the field and from three-point land. Three scorers from North Central reached double figures including junior center Emily DiGiorgio who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.Â
