WAVERLY, IA—Ready to open the home season, the No. 1 Wartburg Knights wrestling program will host Nebraska Wesleyan on Nov. 17.
The American Rivers Conference dual is slated to begin at 6 p.m. inside Levick Arena.
The Knights and Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan have met five times in the program's history. The Knights have won all five prior meetings, with the first two meetings being shutouts for the Knights.
Last Time on the Mat
Zane Mulder,
David Papach and
Josh Gervey took first place at the Luther Open this afternoon as the No. 1 Wartburg wrestling program landed 22 athletes on the podium.
Mulder took home top honors at 174 in the Elite Division, while Gervey had the top spot at 133 in the Silver Division. Papach took top honors at 184 in the Silver Division
The Knights defeated Simpson last Wednesday, a 41-3 victory in an opening A-R-C dual for both squads.
Weekly Honors
After taking top honors at the Luther Open, Mulder earned the Male Athlete of the Week and Wrestler of the Week honors from the A-R-C.
Mulder won first place at the Luther Open in the Elite Bracket, winning at 174. Opening with a first-round bye, Mulder had a tech fall win over UW-La Crosse. Mulder had a fall of UW-Platteville's Nick Dado in 6:36 in round three, before defeating two-time NAIA National Champ and current University of Iowa wrestler, Brennan Swafford.
Nearing 200 Wins
Director of Wrestling,
Eric Keller, is nearing his 200
th career dual win. Starting the season, Keller sits at 199-8 dual wins, with 192 wins coming at the helm of the Wartburg Wrestling program.
