No. 13/14 Knights Women's Basketball Set For Two-Game Road Trip to California

WAVERLY, IA—The No. 13/14 Wartburg Knights women's basketball squad (7-1, 2-1 A-R-C) is set for a two-game road trip to southern California. The Knights will take on the Chapman University Panthers on Dec. 19 before traveling to the University of the Redlands on Dec. 20.
 
This will be the second meeting for the Knights with both teams. The Knights and Panthers will meet for the second time in program history. The first meeting happened in 2001, with the Knights defeating the Panthers 86-78 in Waverly.
 
The Knights and Bulldogs will meet for the second time in program history on Dec. 20. The Knights and Bulldogs previously met in December 1995, as the Knights posted a 75-38 victory over the Bulldogs.

Previewing the Panthers  
 
The Panthers enter the game with a 3-4 record overall. The Panthers return to action after an eleven-day period without a game. The Panthers have been led by Brittany McPherson (15.4 ppg) and Julianna Campas (12.4 ppg). McPherson leads the team in rebounds, with 6.9 per game.
 
The Panthers are shooting 36 percent from the field, while struggling behind the arc (19 percent). The Panthers are shooting 74 percent from the free throw line. The Panthers are recording 29.6 rebounds per game and 11.9 steals
 
Previewing the Bulldogs   
 
The Bulldogs enter the game with a 5-1 record overall. The Bulldogs are averaging 71.2 points per game, while holding their opponents to 69.5 points per game. The Bulldogs are shooting 43 percent from the field, while making 65 percent of their free throw attempts. The Bulldogs are averaging 46.5 rebounds per game.
 
On the court, the Bulldogs are led by Alyssa Downs (16.2 ppg), Hannah Jerrier (14.8 ppg), Angelina Roque (14.2 ppg), and Chyanne Pagkalinawan (12.8 ppg). Jerrier leads the Bulldogs rebounding effort, grabbing 10.5 boards per game.

The Knights fell in the polls this week but remained inside the top-15. The Knights, who previously held the No. 5 spot, sit at No. 13 in the D3hoops.com poll. The Knights hold onto the No. 14 spot in the WBCA poll, dropping six spots.
 
Last Time Out
 
The No. 5/8 Wartburg Knights women's basketball squad was unable to overcome an early first quarter deficit as the No. 12/12 Simpson College Storm handed the Knights their first loss of the season, 90-74.
 
Anderson led the Knights in scoring on 4-of-10 from field goal range, including four three-pointers for 13 points. Dillavou added 12 points (5-of-9 field goal range), while Faber was the final Knights player in double-figure scoring on 4-of-9 shooting for 11 points.
