Men's Tennis Set For Spring Home Opener

WAVERLY, Iowa - Wartburg men's tennis will compete in its first home match of the spring season on Sunday, Feb. 21 when they host the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 1:45 p.m. inside the Hoover Fieldhouse. The contest will mark just the second time the two programs have met in the past seven years.

The Knights (3-2, 0-1 A-R-C) split last weekend's matches with a win against Northwestern College and a loss against Coe College in their American Rivers Conference season opener. Freshmen Nile Petersen and Cade Davis have had promising starts to their collegiate careers with a record of 4-1 and 3-1 in singles play, respectively. Junior Lucas Huffman has tallied the best ledger in doubles competition as he has gone 3-2 this season at the No. 1 position. Huffman has duplicated that record in singles with all of his matches being played at the No. 1 spot. As a team, Wartburg has cumulated a 17-13 record in singles and a 7-8 ledger in doubles play.

Wisconsin La-Crosse is yet to compete in this academic year as they did not have a fall season. In fact, the Eagles have not competed in 350 days with their last competition coming back on March, 7, 2020. Wisconsin La-Crosse concluded the 2019-20 campaign with a 7-4 record, which included an 8-1 victory over Wartburg.
