Knights Hit Road for Pair of Matches

WAVERLY, Iowa - Wartburg men's tennis will continue its nonconference spring schedule when they travel to Sioux City, Iowa on Friday, March 5 to face off with Morningside College at 2 p.m. before heading to Owatonna, Minn. on Saturday, March 6 to take on Hamline University at 1 p.m.

The contest against Hamline will mark just the fourth time the two programs have met while the match against Morningside will be the sixth overall meeting and first since 2017. 

Wartburg (3-4, 0-1 A-R-C) comes into the game following a 9-0 defeat to the hands of Augustana College back on Friday, Feb. 26. Junior Lucas Huffman headlines the Knights with a team-best 4-3 record in singles play with all of his competitions coming at the No. 1 position. Freshman Nile Petersen also has tallied a team-high 4-3 ledger in singles. In doubles, the Marion, Iowa native Huffman paces the Orange & Black with a 4-3 record at the No. 1 spot. As a team, the Knights are a combined 19-23 in singles and 8-13 in doubles. 

The Mustangs enter the match with a 2-4 record with wins over Grand View University and Tabor College. Morningside is on a three-game losing skid and have yet to win a contest in its spring season. Jay'Von McKinney has recorded a team-best 3-3 record in singles while Garrett Seamans paces the team in doubles with a 7-2 ledger. 

Hamline is yet to compete in this academic year and finished last season with a 1-7 record before its season came to a halt due to COVID-19. The Pipers' roster consists of just one senior, one junior, two sophomores and four first-year players. 

Attendance Policy
All fans attending an event at any Morningside athletic facility are required to wear a mask for the event's duration and until they've left the premises.

No fans will be allowed at the contest against Hamline, per school policy.
