Men's Tennis Set for Non-Conference Play on Friday and Saturday

WAVERLY, IOWA – Wartburg men's tennis is set to continue the spring season with a trip to Wisconsin on Friday, Feb. 11 against Wisconsin Lutheran College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Knights will follow this with competition in Clinton, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 12 against Saint Ambrose and Illinois Wesleyan University.

Last Time Out
The Knights got the spring season underway with a split on Saturday, Feb 5 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and two wins on the road in Ripon, Wis. on Sunday, Feb. 6.
 
On Saturday, Lucas Huffman scored the lone point for the Knights in the 1-8 loss against Coe College. Huffman went 2-0 in the number one singles position with wins over Coe's Bo Wilson and UW-La Crosse's Alex Moore.
 
Jackson Eells, Nile Petersen, and Kyle Sehlin all picked up singles wins in their respective positions in the Orange & Black's win over UW-La Crosse. The team of Griffin Steiniger and Sehlin picked up the only doubles win for the Knights on the day.
 
Jack Veber, Kaleb Flenker, and Julian Nemmers all went 2-0 in singles play on Sunday in their respective positions. Joseph Haag and Nemmers led the Knights in doubles play with two doubles wins each on the day to lead Wartburg past Ripon College and Lawrence University.
 
Series History
Wisconsin Lutheran
Friday's matchup will mark the first time these schools have met in men's tennis in school history.
 
MSOE
Friday's match will mark the fifth all-time matchup between these schools. Wartburg has the upper hand with a 3-1 record against the Raiders. The last meeting was in 2019 where the Knights won 7-2.
 
Saint Ambrose
The first meeting between these schools came in 1974 and Saint Ambrose would win that matchup along with the next seven in a row. Saturday will mark the 17th meeting between the schools and the Fighting Bee's lead the all-time series 9-7. The Knights won the last matchup 8-1 last season an have won the last six-straight meetings.
 
Illinois Wesleyan
Saturday's matchup will mark the first time these schools have met in men's tennis in school history.
