GRINNELL, Iowa – Men's tennis broke the school record for team wins in a season after two wins today over Simpson and Northwestern College (Iowa). The Knights are now 18-7 overall and moved to 1-1 in American Rivers Play after sweeping Simpson 9-0.
 
The record for wins in a season by a team was previously held by the 2018-19 team with 16 wins and now this year's Knights are at 18 and counting. Head Coach, Chris Gustas has also broken the program record for most wins by a coach in Wartburg men's tennis history with 69 and counting. Gustas is now the all-time Wartburg leader in wins for both men's and women's tennis among coaches.
 
The Orange & Black started the day with a 9-0 sweep over A-R-C foe Simpson College. The teams of Lucas Huffman/Jackson Eells, Cade Davis/Griffin Steiniger, and AJ Wilkins/ Kyle Sehlin got the dual started by sweeping doubles play and then carried it over to singles play.
 
Those doubles teams finished 2-0 on the day after sweeping Northwestern in doubles play to start off the second dual. Huffman and Wilkins both went 2-0 in singles and doubles play on the day to lead the Orange & Black. Nile Petersen and Sehlin finished 1-0 in the number six singles spot.
