Knights Set for A-R-C AQ Tournament

WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's tennis is set to host a quaterfinal matchup in the American Rivers Conference Automatic Qualifier Tournament on Tuesday, May 3.
 
Last Time Out
The Knights were dominant as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University 9-0 to start the day and then beat Loras 7-2 to close the regular season on Sunday, May 1. The doubles teams of Lucas Huffman/ Jackson Eells, AJ Wilkins/ Griffin Steiniger and Kyle Sehlin/ Jeff Miller all went 2-0 today to close a perfect 6-0 day in doubles play.
 
Huffman, Eells, Wilkins and Steiniger all finished 2-0 in their respective singles positions to help secure the conference wins.
 
Record Watch
With his two number one doubles wins on Sunday, Huffman has passed Tom Koenen for the most in all-time Wartburg history with 53 wins and counting. The senior leader also tied the individual season record for singles wins at 20 this season after going 2-0 in number one singles today. Huffman is currently 20-4 in number one doubles and 17-6 with Eells in number one doubles play.

The three seed marks the highest finish in the conference standings for the Knights since the 2015-16 season. Wartburg's school record 24 wins this season are the most by an A-R-C team since Coe Finished the 2013-14 season 25-8.
 
Both Luther and Coe received first round byes and will face the winners from the quarterfinals. Luther will host both the semifinal and championship round as the regular season champions. The winner of Central vs. Loras will face Luther in the semifinals and the winner of Wartburg vs NWU will face Coe. The semifinals will be played on Friday, May 6 and the championship will be played the following day on Saturday, May 7. 
 
Nebraska Wesleyan
The Knights will host Nebraska Wesleyan for the second time in three days on Tuesday, May 3. The Prairie Wolves finished the 2021-22 season with an overall record of 4-11 and a mark of 3-5 in A-R-C play.

The Orange & Black swept NWU in their first matchup of the year just a day ago and hold the all-time series advantage with a record of 6-3. Wartburg has won the last six matchups against the Prairie Wolves.
