Knights Defeat Nebraska Welseyan 98-29 on the Road

LINCOLN, Neb. – Wartburg women's basketball continued it's winning streak with a 98-29 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University for it's largest winning margin of the season. The Knights are now a perfect 5-0 in American Rivers Conference Play and move to 10-4 overall.
 
Scoring Summary
  • First Half
    • Neither team scored in the first two minutes of the game
    • After NWU got the first points of the game, Wartburg took a 3-2 lead when Macy Harris converted a three-point play
    • With the score tied 5-5, the Knights closed the quarter on a 13-2 run to take a 18-7 lead after the first quarter
    • Wartburg started the second quarter with a three pointer from Maggie Wilkins and that led to a 10-0 run over the first five minutes of the quarter
    • After an Olivia Baxter three-point play, Sara Faber scored seven straight points to put the Knights up 38-9 with just over three minutes left to play in the half
    • The Prairie Wolves scored back-to-back buckets, but Harris and Jaedon Murphy combined to score seven in a row to give the Knights a 45-13 lead at halftime

    • The Knights started the second half with five straight points from Faber and then a three-point play from Murphy
    • NWU was able to convert four free throws in between Wartburg scoring flurries and the score was 61-17 after four minutes of the third quarter
    • Wartburg closed the third quarter on a 14-0 run led by six points from Baxter
    • Maggie Wilkins scored the first four points of the fourth quarter
    • Faith Trelka scored seven points in three minutes for the Knights
    • Lauren Woeste closed the game with a layup and gave the Knights a 98-29 win
