WAVERLY, Iowa -- The No. 4-ranked Wartburg College men's wrestling team (2-0, 2-0 A-R-C) delivered yet another dominant performance in its home opener, shutting out Nebraska Wesleyan (1-2, 0-2 A-R-C) by a score of 54-0.
The victory marked a pair of historic milestones for the powerhouse program — its 950th all-time dual win and 75th victory inside Levick Arena.Â
At 125 pounds, No. 7
Brett Birchman opened the dual with a 17-2 technical fall over Q. Chavez in just 3:37.
Bowen Brunson followed with a pin at 133 pounds, sticking I. Graves in 3:15 to make it 11-0.Â
The momentum kept rolling as
Patrick Mullen recorded another fall at 141, finishing R. Fisher in just 1:43.
Reese Osborne (149) continued the onslaught with a 15-0 technical fall in exactly three minutes, pushing Wartburg's lead to 22-0.Â
At 157 pounds,
Caleb Olson added another technical fall, defeating C. Peterson 18-3 in 4:40, before No. 14 Aidan Brosinski (165) racked up a 16-0 tech fall in 3:31 to extend the margin to 32-0.Â
Hesston Johnson (174) kept the Knights rolling with a 22-7 tech fall and No. 4
Kasey Ross (184) followed with a first-period pin at 3:26 to make it 43-0.Â
At 197,
Cal Dorota dominated from start to finish, securing a 21-6 technical fall in just 1:55. To close out the night, top-ranked heavyweight Mitch Williamson wasted no time, pinning his opponent in only 46 seconds to cap the 54-0 sweep.Â
In total, the Knights racked up six tech falls and four pins, to earn its second-consecutive shutout to open the 2025 season, as four freshman made their collegiate debuts:
