WAVERLY, Iowa- The Wartburg women's golf team tee's up the season this weekend in Cedar Falls at the Kohawk Classic on Aug 30-31.
Last Season
Wartburg placed fifth in the American Rivers Conference Championships in Ames, Iowa.
Brenna Bodensteiner and
Drucilla Kramer earned A-R-C Honarable Mention honors with their 14
th and 15
th place finishes.
Season Outlook
The Knights are represented by seven returners and four freshman ready to compete this season.
"We're ready for our 2025 fall season. We've transitioned into a little younger team this year. We graduated two seniors that were really important to the program. It's fun to think about having a young team because it brings new challenges and opportunities for a lot of players," said Head Coach
John Thompson in his opening statement at media day.
This year's team will feature some powerful and self-motivated athletes that are ready to compete.
"This is one of the longest teams we've had. From the time I've started, I've felt the biggest advantage in golf is hitting the ball a long ways. When we're out on the golf course and I start seeing girls hit drives that are 240-250 yards, I say that we can play golf this way. They're very self-motivated. It makes it fun and very easy for me to be around a team like this," said Thompson.
