Top-Ranked Knights Sweep A-R-C Duals in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The No. 1 Wartburg College men's wrestling team improved to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in American Rivers Conference action after racking up a trio of conference victories at the A-R-C Duals on Saturday inside the Stoltz Sports Center on the campus of the University of Dubuque. 

The Knights opened the day with a top 10 win over No. 9 Central College, 35-9, before recording back-to-back shutouts against Buena Vista, 52-0, and host Dubuque, 51-0.  
 
NO. 1 WARTBURG 35, NO. 9 CENTRAL 9 
Wartburg won eight of 10 bouts to secure the dual victory, highlighted by bonus-point wins across the lineup. Brett Birchman (125) opened the match with a 13-4 major decision, while Patrick Mullen (133) and Mike Slade (174) each earned falls. Aiden Brosinski (165) added an 11-0 major decision, and Kasey Ross (184) closed his bout with a 15-0 technical fall. 

Additional wins came from Kade Blume (141), Charlie Dojan (157), and Mitch Williamson (285), as the Knights controlled the dual from start to finish. 

Wartburg now leads the all-time series, 46-12-2, and has won 33 straight against Central.

Wartburg dominated the dual with nine wins in 10 bouts, piling up bonus points throughout the lineup. Raio Hamaguchi (125) set the tone with a 7-5 decision, followed by first-period falls from Devin Murphy (133) and Mitchell Pins (141). Marshall Hanke (149), Syler Zdanczewicz (165), and Mitch Williamson (285) also recorded falls, while Colton Berg (174) and Kasey Ross (184) each secured technical falls. 

Brody Lee (157) added a 12-6 decision as the Knights controlled the match from start to finish. 

The Knights won their 31st straight meeting against the Beavers to gain a 43-13 series advantage.

Wartburg completed a clean sweep of the dual, winning all 10 bouts against Dubuque with consistent bonus-point production. Falls were recorded by Patrick Mullen (133), Kade Blume (141), Carter Martinson (165), Cal Dorota (197), and Jake Walker (285), with Walker ending the heavyweight match in 28 seconds. 

Caleb Olson (149) and Mike Slade (174) each posted technical falls, while Charlie Dojan (157) and Kasey Ross (184) secured major decisions. James Levy (125) started the match with a 5–2 decision as the Knights controlled the dual from start to finish. 

The streak against Dubuque continues to 45-straight, leading the all-time series 53-11-2.
