WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's basketball celebrated senior day with an 83-45 win over Central College on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Knights have now won 14-straight games and move to 18-6 overall and 14-1 overall in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play.
The Knights had three scorers in double-digit figures, including a career high from
Emma Townsley, and held Central to just eight total points in both the second and third quarters. Wartburg honored seniors
Lauren Donlea and
Ava Trettin prior to today's contest.

- First Quarter
- Central jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the opening minutes, but free throws from Emma Townsley and a three pointer from Grace Hennessy put the Knights on the board as they trailed 7-5 after three and a half minutes of play
- The Knights went on an 8-0 run to take a 13-7 lead with just under five minutes left in the first after three pointers from both Lauren Golinghorst and Laynee Hogan and a score in the paint from Hennessy
- The Dutch outscored the Knights 9-6 over the next three minutes, despite scores from Hogan, Katie Boulanger and Townsley, to close the Wartburg lead to 19-16
- Ava Trettin assisted a score from Hennessy and Ally Poegel scored in the paint in the final minutes to put Wartburg in front 23-16 after one quarter

- Golinghorst and Hennessy each scored in the opening minutes of the second period as Wartburg led 27-21
- Following an almost four minute scoring drought, Wartburg scored seven-straight points after back-to-back scores from Hogan and a three pointer from Carly Rich to put the Knights in front 34-21 with 2:11 left in the half
- Donlea knocked down a short jumper in the final possession of the first half to make the score 36-24 headed to the break

- Boulanger scored the first four points of the half for Wartburg before a score from Corrie Harrison gave Wartburg a 42-29 lead after a minute and a half of play into the second half
- The Knights went on a 10-1 run over the next two and a half minutes with three pointers from Donlea and Hogan along with scores from Boulanger an Golinghorst as the Knights remained in front 52-30 midway through the third
- Wartburg continued the run throughout the end of the third quarter as the Knights outscored Central 13-2 led by six points from Harrison and scores from Hennessy, Townsley and Ally Poegel
- Wartburg led 65-32 headed to the final quarter
- Fourth Quarter
- Three pointers from Townsley and Carly Rich opened the scoring for the Knights in the fourth, as Wartburg led 71-32 with 7:38 left to play
- Central outscored the Knights 7-2 over the next two minutes, but a made jumper from Maddie Pavelka stopped the run as Wartburg continued to lead by 36 with just over four minutes remaining
- Scores from Poegel, Trettin and Finley Fitzgerald put the finishing touches on a 83-45 win over the Dutch for Wartburg
