Wartburg Cross Country and Track & Field Land 12 on CSC Academic All-District Teams

Twelve members of Wartburg Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Tuesday, June 24.
 
Caitlin Benesh, Natalie Bork, Isaiah Hammerand, Eli Larson, Maddie Merna, Haley Meyer, Tyler Schermerhorn, Lance Sobaski, Sophia Stahle, JoJo Tyynismaa, Jimmy Weispfenning and AJ Wright. The Knights had the maximum number of All-District recipients for both the men and women.
 
This honor marked a third-straight year earning academic All-District honors for Schermerhorn, who was also a CSC Academic All-American during the 2023-24 season. Second career All-District honor for Meyer, Sobaski, Stahle and Tyynismaa. It was the first career CSC honor for Benesh, Bork, Hammerand, Larson, Merna, Weispfenning and Wright.
 
To be eligible for recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher. Eligible nominees will be based off TFRRS regional performance rankings at the time of nomination. Note: Only individual ranked performances are to be used for eligibility. If a student-athlete has participated in a RELAY EVENT, that can bolster the nomination but the basic criteria to be met is for INDIVIDUAL performances. Relays cannot be the basis for eligibility.
  • NCAA institutions: 
    • Cross Country - Top-50 individual performance at the 2024 NCAA regional competition 
    • Track - Top-50 regional ranking in single event (indoor or outdoor) 
 
The CSC Academic All-District® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined accomplishments in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately honors student-athletes in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA competition.
 
Student-athletes selected as Academic All-America® finalists advance to a nationwide vote conducted by CSC members to determine first, second and third-team Academic All-America® recipients.
