ANKENY, Iowa -- The Wartburg College cross country teams swept both team titles at the Viking Invitational Saturday at the DMACC Cross Country Course, with the men's squad dominating the individual standings by placing all eight competitors in the top eight.

Junior Ayden Buchanan led the Knights to the men's team title with an individual victory, crossing the finish line in 25:48.26. Isaiah Hammerand followed in second at 26:06.65, while Ahmed Aldamak, Ethan Boston, Aidan Decker, Evan Cook, Alex Horstman and AJ Schermerhorn rounded out Wartburg's top eight.

Buchanan's victory highlighted a dominant team performance, as Wartburg's top eight runners accounted for the first eight spots in the individual standings. The Knights totaled 15 points to claim the team championship.

On the women's side, junior Lydia Maas led Wartburg with a second-place finish in 23:05.48. Leah McDonald followed in fourth at 23:53.50, while Anna Quinlin placed fifth, Ava Vance sixth and Claire Hoyer seventh. Alyssa Higgins and Madison Popelar finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with Bethany Warren rounding out the Knights' top eight in 10th.

Wartburg totaled 24 points to secure the women's team championship.
